Hip pain during menopause is common, but it is often blamed on age or arthritis. That may not be the whole story.
Estrogen helps support muscles, joints, and tendons. As estrogen drops, tendons may become weaker and easier to injure. This can lead to pain on the outside of the hip.
You may notice pain while climbing stairs, walking, or standing after sitting. Sleeping on your sore side may feel almost impossible. The pain can also spread into the thigh or buttock.
Many women try stretching, rest, pain pills, or supplements. Yet the pain keeps coming back. Why? Because those steps may not treat the real cause.
The right plan starts with knowing what has changed and why.
