Can you get hormones over the counter?
Yes — some of them. Certain topical hormone products, including bioidentical progesterone, DHEA and Bi-Est estrogen creams, are sold directly to consumers without a prescription. Prescription menopausal hormone therapy — pills, patches and FDA-approved estradiol or micronized progesterone products — is a separate category you get through a licensed healthcare professional.
Hormone Bliss sells non-prescription topical bioidentical hormone creams, plus optional education and hormone-health coaching. We are not a prescriber, and our creams are not prescription hormone therapy. This page explains what you can actually buy, how estrogen, progesterone and DHEA creams differ, and how to figure out a sensible starting point.

What you can buy without a prescription
| Non-prescription cream | What it is | Symptom pattern it's usually discussed for |
|---|---|---|
| Bi-Est estrogen cream | A topical blend of estriol and a smaller amount of estradiol. | Hot flashes, night sweats, dryness, dry skin, temperature swings. |
| Progesterone cream, 75 mg | Bioidentical progesterone applied to the skin. | Broken sleep, 3 a.m. waking, anxiety, cycle and PMS changes. |
| DHEA cream, 50 mg | A precursor hormone involved in androgen pathways — not testosterone. | Low libido, low drive, muscle loss, flat energy. |
| Prescription hormone therapy | Patches, gels, tablets and FDA-approved products — not available over the counter. | Decided with your own licensed healthcare professional. |
Symptom associations above are educational. They describe patterns commonly reported in menopause and perimenopause research — not a statement about your own hormone levels. If you want numbers alongside your symptoms, at-home hormone testing is optional and can be done before or after you start.
Buying a cream is the easy part. Knowing what to do with it is where women get stuck.
You can find hormone creams in ten minutes. What you cannot find easily is an answer to the questions that come next: which hormone matches my symptoms, how much do I use, where do I apply it, do I cycle it, and what do I change if nothing shifts in six weeks? Most sellers hand you a bottle and disappear.
That gap is what Hormone Bliss is built around. You start with your symptoms — not a product page. Our cream selector asks about your symptom pattern and stage of life and points you to a starting point. The SymptomScan™ Analyzer goes deeper and gives our hormone advisors a practical starting point for your routine. And with Bliss Membership coaching, a real person helps you adjust as your body responds.
Coaching is education and practical guidance, not medical care. Diagnosis, prescriptions and decisions about prescription hormone therapy stay with your own licensed healthcare professional — and some women should start there, which is why our screening routes certain answers that way instead of to a cart.
