Woman feeling vibrant with balanced hormones
Understanding Hormone Health

Small signals, big consequences.

Your hormones are chemical messengers that regulate energy, mood, sleep, metabolism, libido, cognition, and long-term risk for disease. When they drift out of balance, everyday life starts to feel harder — and the changes rarely happen all at once.

Fatigue, brain fog, unexplained weight gain, restless sleep, and low libido are common early signs of hormone imbalance. Left unaddressed, chronic imbalance is linked to osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, insulin resistance, and cognitive decline.

Personalized care — grounded in real lab data and a functional medicine lens — is what makes the difference between chasing symptoms and truly restoring balance.

01

Bioidentical Hormones & BHRT

The science, safety, and structure of plant-based bioidentical hormone therapy.

Bioidentical hormones are molecularly identical to the hormones your body naturally produces. They're made from plant sources like soy and yam and are tailored to your unique lab results — so your cells recognize and use them exactly like your own hormones. The goal is to restore balance so you can feel like yourself again: more energy, better sleep, steadier mood, and fewer menopause symptoms.

Synthetic hormones are chemically altered — often derived from petrochemicals — and don't perfectly match the structure of your body's own hormones. That mismatch is what drives many of the side effects (and headlines) associated with traditional HRT. Bioidentical hormones are a molecular match, are customized to your labs, and are typically delivered topically to bypass the liver — a safer, more physiologic approach.

Our creams use pharmaceutical-grade USP bioidentical Bi-Est (estradiol + estriol), progesterone, testosterone, and DHEA in a clean base of purified water, plant glycerin, aloe vera, olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, sunflower, lecithin, and vitamin E — with no parabens, plastics, or petrochemicals. Made in an FDA-registered, kosher-inspected U.S. facility.

The plant-derived hormones themselves are FDA-approved active ingredients. Compounded BHRT formulas are prepared by licensed U.S. compounding pharmacies to your prescriber's spec, which allows the personalization synthetic hormones don't offer. Our products are manufactured to U.S. Pharmacopeia standards and third-party tested for purity and potency.

Most conventional physicians are trained in an insurance-driven, protocol-based model built around patented synthetic hormones. BHRT requires functional testing, personalized dosing, and follow-up — which doesn't fit a 15-minute visit. Our providers specialize in bioidentical hormone therapy and functional medicine so you get care built around root cause, not a prescription pad.

Women's Hormone Health

Perimenopause, menopause, libido, weight, and mood — the whole picture.

Hormone imbalances often start subtly — mood swings, restless sleep, weight that won't budge, brain fog, low libido, anxiety — and can mimic depression, thyroid disease, or 'just aging.' The only way to know for sure is targeted lab testing (saliva, blood, or urine) that measures estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, thyroid, and cortisol. That's always our first step.

Natural hormone production begins declining in your mid-20s, and symptoms often show up between 35 and 45. If you're experiencing fatigue, low libido, sleep issues, mood shifts, or weight changes, you don't need to wait until menopause. Starting earlier can also protect against long-term risks like bone loss, cardiovascular disease, and cognitive decline.

Estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone regulate far more than reproduction — they impact bone density, brain health, cardiovascular function, metabolism, mood, and skin. As those hormones decline, so does the protection they provide. Restoring balance with BHRT can ease menopause symptoms and support long-term wellness.

Almost certainly. Testosterone and DHEA are the primary drivers of desire and arousal in women, and both decline naturally starting in your 30s. Chronic stress raises cortisol, which further suppresses sex hormones. Restoring testosterone and DHEA to optimal ranges — combined with sleep, stress, and nutrition support — often rekindles libido, energy, and confidence.

Think of hormones as traffic lights for your metabolism. When they're balanced, your body responds to nutrition and exercise the way it used to. Most women first notice that uncontrollable weight gain stops. Over time, balanced estrogen and testosterone help you build lean muscle and burn stubborn belly, hip, and thigh fat — provided you also stay active and eat well.

No — hormone imbalance and synthetic hormones (particularly oral Premarin and Provera studied in the 2002 WHI trial) are what drove the older cancer-risk narrative. Bioidentical progesterone is actually protective of breast tissue, and topical/transdermal bioidentical estrogen avoids the liver-related risks of oral synthetic estrogen. Even women with a family history of breast cancer can often benefit — proactive balance, not avoidance, is the modern approach.

Properly dosed transdermal bioidentical estrogen has been shown to protect the cardiovascular system — keeping arteries flexible, reducing inflammation, and supporting healthy cholesterol. Elevated stroke and clotting risk was tied to oral synthetic estrogens, not to topical bioidenticals. Starting within 10 years of menopause typically yields the strongest heart-protective benefits.

Treatment Process & Safety

What to expect from your protocol, side effects, and how we adjust over time.

Most patients notice improvements — better sleep, calmer mood, more energy — within days to two weeks. Deeper changes like weight regulation, libido, and skin quality build over the following months as your levels stabilize. Consistency matters: your hormones took years to drift out of balance, and steady daily use is what brings them back.

Because BHRT matches your body's own hormones, side effects are usually mild and short-lived: temporary breast tenderness, mild bloating, or a brief mood adjustment as levels normalize. If dosing runs high, symptoms like headaches, anxiety, or fluid retention signal that we simply need to adjust. Regular labs and follow-ups keep your protocol dialed in.

Rarely. The main exception is other hormonal medications — birth control pills or hormonal acne treatments — which we typically transition off of. In many cases, as hormone balance improves, patients need less of medications for blood sugar, mood, or sleep. Always share your full medication and supplement list so your provider can review interactions.

You benefit for as long as you take them — because BHRT replaces what your body no longer produces on its own. Some patients continue for life to preserve energy, cognition, and bone density. Others taper down with lifestyle support. There's no one-size answer; your provider will help you decide what fits your goals.

No. Oral contraceptives use synthetic hormones (ethinyl estradiol and progestins) in fixed high doses to override your natural cycle and prevent pregnancy. BHRT uses bioidentical hormones in personalized doses to restore what your body is missing. Two very different tools with very different effects on the body.

Lab Testing & Getting Started

How we measure what's happening — and what happens after your first test.

We use targeted panels — typically a combination of saliva, blood, and/or urine — to measure estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, thyroid, and cortisol. Everything is at-home and shipped to your door. Your provider reviews results with you in a virtual consultation.

Once we have your labs and health history, your provider builds a personalized protocol — usually a bioidentical cream regimen paired with targeted supplements and lifestyle guidance. Your creams ship directly to you, and your care team stays in touch as your body adjusts.

Yes. Dr. Tammy's private supplement line and our partnership with AllScripts allow us to build a targeted regimen for your labs — supporting the pathways hormones depend on: methylation, detox, blood sugar, and adrenal function. Even the cleanest diet rarely covers every gap.

No. Testing, consultations, prescriptions, and follow-ups are all virtual. Your labs and treatments ship to your home. You work with your care team on your schedule, wherever you live.
